Writer: Kay Saville-Smith
Kay Saville-Smith is a sociologist and historian. She published Provincial Society and Empire: The Cumbrian Counties and the East Indies 1680-1829 (2018) which is based on her doctorate in history at the University of Lancaster. Kay lives in New Zealand where she is research director of the Centre for Research Evaluation and Social Assessment. In this other life she specialises in housing research and is the Chief Science Adviser of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Kay has deep ancestral connection with Cumbria, particularly the Lake District.
